White Oak Breakfast Nook with Floating Shelf and Family-Style Bench Seating in Boston MA

Bench seating with storage and floating shelves provided the right design feature in this open floor plan, newly built condominium. White oak was chosen to construct the built-in bench and 2” shelves. A simple and clean look was achieved with the five maple drawers inset into the frame and no drawer pulls. The maple drawers feature push-to-open slides and dovetail joints. A clear coat Rubio finish was applied, which shows off the natural beauty and grain of the white oak.

Custom Built-In Wood Cabinets for Upscale Remote Office

Grain was engaged to replace the existing IKEA cabinets. These built-in custom cabinets and shelving provide a finished look and more storage in the home office. The units span a 12’ wall from floor to ceiling and was finished with Benjamin Moore gentleman’s gray in a satin finish. The lighting sconces added a nice touch. Ceiling crown and base mouldings were added to the cabinets to match the existing mouldings. Installation was completed in less than two days.

Custom White Oak Double Bath Vanity

Location: West Roxbury, MA

This double bathroom vanity was built using white oak throughout, including the drawers and interior of the unit. The drawers were constructed using dovetail joints and mounted on Blum soft close drawer slides. Shaker style doors were inset into the cabinet with black drawer / door pulls. Several clear coats of a water based finish were applied. A stone top was used for the countertop.

This client added custom cabinetry to fit a space in the laundry room. Shaker-style inset doors and drawers on the base and upper cabinets were finished in Benjamin Moore White Cream. Grain fabricated the top, which is a true butcher block counter, made with 3 inch thick black walnut and finished with clear acrylic polyurethane. An additional black walnut butcher block top was custom made for the laundry sink.

Location: West Roxbury, MA

The owner of this upscale, 3-story, 6 bedroom colonial home engaged Grain for a custom fit. The bank of drawers spans the entire wall of the bedroom loft, providing additional storage. The challenge was that the drawer units were installed in the attic living area. Therefore, each drawer had to be built and sized appropriately to accommodate the slope of the wall / roof.

All maple drawers were inset into the frame, providing a clean and uniform look. The white oak countertop was finished with a clear coat to bring out the natural beauty of the white oak. The cabinets were finished off with a Benjamin Moore high quality paint and brass drawer pulls.
