Interior Design and Custom Millwork

The interior design of Fox Howe Apartments, including the amenity spaces, draws heavily from a modern farmhouse-inspired style. This design combines the charm of rustic elements with clean, contemporary lines. GRAIN is proud to havefabricated and installed the custom millwork throughout the amenity spaces.

A key feature of the design is the use of architectural millwork to create a cozy, “lived-in” feel. This is highlighted by the presence of exposed wood beams in the spaces. This element provides a sense of rustic authenticity and warmth. The design also incorporates built-in cabinetry, shelving, workspace, decorative moldings and wall paneling elements which adds both functionality and a custom, integrated look to the interior.

Key amenity spaces include:

Clubhouse/Grand Club Room: A central gathering space featuring a fireplace and bar seating.
Work-from-Home Spaces: Dedicated areas for residents to work remotely.
Fitness Center: A state-of-the-art facility for residents to exercise.
Game Room: Equipped with a billiard table for recreation.
Library: A serene and quiet space for reading.

Blue Bathroom Vanity

Materials: White Oak, Clear conversion varnish

Location: West Roxbury, MA

This double bathroom vanity was built using white oak throughout, including the drawers and interior of the unit. The drawers were constructed using dovetail joints and mounted on Blum soft close drawer slides. Shaker style doors were inset into the cabinet with black drawer / door pulls. Several clear coats of a water based finish were applied. A stone top was used for the countertop.

The challenge was to provide custom cabinetry which would hide the old cast iron radiator and water shut-off valve for the house. Note the custom air slats in the radiator panel which matches the drawer fronts. A removable drawer provides access to the building water shut-off valve.

Cohasset Shaker Kitchen

Location: Cohasset, MA

Grain built and installed this large custom kitchen with a center island in a newly constructed home. Shaker style doors and drawers were used throughout to provide a clean and simple look against the pine wood floors. The owner also used Grain to do other custom work – bathroom vanities, dining area with handmade cherry table, mudroom storage, foyer, laundry room and the pantry.

The project included fabricating and installing:

– Master Bedroom – closet drawers & shelves
– Mudroom – bench and cubbies
